Recipe Instructions:
                                    
                                    
                                        Ingredients:
•	2 cups dried beans (such as pinto or kidney beans), soaked overnight
•	1/2 lb smoked pork (such as ham hock or bacon), diced
•	2 onions, chopped
•	2 cloves garlic, minced
•	2 tablespoons lard or vegetable oil
•	Salt and pepper, to taste
•	Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
o	Drain soaked beans and rinse. Place in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until beans are tender, about 1-1.5 hours.
o	In a separate skillet, heat lard or vegetable oil over medium heat. Add diced smoked pork and cook until browned and crispy. Remove from skillet and set aside.
o	In the same skillet, sauté chopped onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
o	Add cooked beans (with some cooking liquid) to the skillet with onions and garlic. Mash beans with a potato masher until smooth and creamy. Add more bean cooking liquid if needed to achieve desired consistency.
o	Stir in crispy smoked pork. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
o	Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
o	Serve Matevž hot as a comforting main dish.
