Recipe Instructions:
Ingredients:
250 grams beef stew meat (bone-in for best flavor)
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 tablespoon Nihari masala spice mix (available in stores or homemade)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
Salt to taste
1 liter water
Chopped fresh cilantro and ginger for garnish
Sliced green chilies (optional, for garnish)
Lemon wedges, for serving
Cooked basmati rice or naan bread, to serve
Instructions:
Cook the Beef:
Heat ghee or oil in a pot over medium heat.
Add sliced onion and cook until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
Add Spices:
Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add Nihari masala spice mix, turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
Prepare the Stew:
Add beef stew meat to the pot and coat it well with the spice mixture.
Pour in water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer gently for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and the gravy has thickened. Stir occasionally and add more water if needed to maintain desired consistency.
Serve:
Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and ginger.
Optionally, garnish with sliced green chilies for extra heat.
Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side and your choice of cooked basmati rice or naan bread.
