Ingredients:
Beef Stew Meat:
500 grams beef stew meat, cut into cubes
Vegetables:
400 grams potatoes (about 3 medium potatoes), peeled and sliced
200 grams onions (about 2 medium onions), sliced
200 grams carrots (about 2 medium carrots), peeled and sliced
Seasonings:
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste (approximately 1 teaspoon or 5 grams)
Pepper to taste (approximately 1/2 teaspoon or 1 gram)
Liquids:
240 milliliters white wine (optional, or use additional water if not using wine)
Water (enough to almost cover the ingredients, approximately 240-300 milliliters if not using wine)
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 160°C (325°F).
Layer Ingredients:
In a large ovenproof dish, layer the sliced potatoes, onions, carrots, and beef cubes. Season each layer with salt and pepper.
Add Bay Leaf:
Tuck the bay leaf into the layers.
Add Liquids:
Pour the white wine (if using) over the ingredients. Add enough water to almost cover the layers.
Cover and Bake:
Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.
Serve:
Serve hot.
