Main Dish

Recipe Instructions:

Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts (approximately 500 grams total)
120 grams breadcrumbs
60 grams grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg, beaten (about 50 grams)
240 grams marinara sauce
120 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
200 grams whole-wheat pasta
1 tablespoon olive oil (about 15 grams)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
Prepare Chicken: Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally to make 4 thinner pieces. Season with salt and pepper.
Bread the Chicken: In one bowl, mix the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese. In another bowl, beat the egg. Dip each chicken piece in the egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
Cook Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Bake Chicken: Place the chicken in a baking dish. Top each piece with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Cook Pasta: While the chicken is baking, cook the whole-wheat pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Serve: Serve the Chicken Parmigiana over the cooked whole-wheat pasta. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
